Manuscripts and photocopies collected by Davies while researching and writing a biography entitled, "George Beard, Mormon Pioneer Artist with a Camera," privately published, ca. 1974. Collection includes Beard's memoirs and correspondence, news clippings and biographies about him, a transcript of his funeral service, Beard family histories, photographs, and a short color film made by KSL-TV regarding Beard's life. Papers include materials authored by Lovenia Bullock Beard, Edna Beard Taylor, Glenn Beard Lee and Gladys Beard Wainwright.

George Beard was an early Utah artist, photographer, and legislator. He owned the Coalville Cooperative. Later he sold it to his son, Paul, who changed the name to Paul's Grocery Store.
